The pressures of daily life are inevitable. Work, family, relationships, finances, responsibilities … the list is often unending. Each facet can add tension to our lives. We often feel stressed, tired, and unable to return to a centered inner state at the end of a day. Taking the time to step back and reflect on our own needs and priorities, is a step towards finding a healthier balance in our lives.
Are you in a relationship with a person who does not have your well being at heart?
Are you ignoring the signs of exhaustion and overwork?
Do you find yourself repeatedly complaining about a situation?
Are you getting enough sleep?
Examining each source of stress and implementing small changes over time will have a lasting positive impact on your life.
Build a good support system. Nurture the supportive friendships and relationships that build you up and inspire you to be your best version. Make a list of relationships that don’t have your best interest at the core, and define some clear boundaries. It may be necessary to phase out or end some relationships that no longer serve you. Good relationships are fulfilling and loving. Quality time with our loved ones helps us to connect on a deeper level and balances our time resources with the cycle of our everyday routines.
Draw a clear line between your work and home. Understand your limitations of time and energy, and the finite amount of each that we have available each day. When you are mentally and physically exhausted, the quality of your work will suffer. Reconnect with who you are instead of what you do for a living.
Do you spend time watching every catastrophic event on the evening news? The mix of fear and negativity that surrounds the reporting of a crisis often starts to re-frame how we see the world in general. Do you mindlessly scroll social media feeds? Disconnect from and turn off your digital devices to give your mind a break from external influences. Focus on today and rather channel your attention to activities that expand your life experience. A balanced life will include dedicate time where you are fully present for your partner, family, or close circle of friends.
Each aspect of our lives is interconnected, with the feeling of centered harmony dependent on finding a balance in each part. Our overall health, both physical and mental, is often the largest definer of our feelings of day-to-day wellness, centeredness, and happiness. Wellness lives in the balance of restful sleep, eating nourishing fresh food, regularly exercising, meditating, journaling, and spending time in nature. We are responsible to ourselves to fulfill our needs, heal our wounds, accept who we are, and learn to love ourselves. There is no one better equipped to answer your inner questions, than you. Make time to determine where you want to focus and start by taking small steps towards the intention of bringing more balance into your life. A small glimpse of happiness is not enough, you deserve a blissful life of Wellness!
